Cunningham, Kara Imani (Deirdre) - a sophomore at St. Francis de Sales, Chicago, IL, is an avid basketball player. At practice on February 10, 2011, Scott Ritter, a Chicago Sun Times correspondent, interviewed her. This is what Kara had to say, "Mentally and physically, we know we're sophomores," Cunningham said. "But nine times out of 10 when we get out on that court we play like juniors and seniors. We've played so much, our skill level is way higher than what you'd expect from sophomores." ..."That was our first goal, winning regional," Cunningham said. "Our coach (Terrence Streater) told us at the very beginning of the year that he had confidence in us and he knew we could do it. Once he told us what his goal was we were really confident in ourselves." ..."Every day our goals get bigger and bigger," Cunningham said. "We're pushing and we're going to keep pushing. No matter where we are right now, we always want to go farther." ..."We haven't even heard of them until now," Cunningham said of Seneca. "We don't know how they play or where they're at. ..."It really doesn't matter how much we know about them though. At the end of the day, we're going to go out there and play the way we know how to play. We're going to play the type of game that got us a regional." Kara has set her goal early -- the WNBA!
